I Wish You Rainbows: A Prayer for Self Acceptance
Today I wish you rainbows.
I wish you the bravery to take a deep breath and forgive yourself for being so you, so human, so beautiful and sacred and perfect and fallible and messy all at one.
I wish you the fierceness to show up for your life.
To accidentally talk too much. To say the wrong thing. To wear clashing colors.
To feel awkward in photos and fumbly in your own skin… and to still find a way to love + forgive yourself in this discomfort.
This is how you grow. This is how you blossom into who you were always meant to be.
When you hide behind pretty pictures on your phone all day, you can’t get to that tender blooming place where your colors unfold into light.
I wish you wisps of boredom. I wish you empty spaces, and I wish you the courage to fill those spaces with your own potent magic.
I wish you the stamina to walk through the storm, to let your hair cling to your neck, to put one soggy boot ahead of the other as you seek your gold. I wish you the open-heartedness to love whatever you find.
What fumblings and mistakes have you made recently? May you shine the nurturing light of awareness on them. May you soften your grip.
May you forgive yourself quickly. May you step back into your rainbowness.
May you repeat this as often as you need.
Wonderful thoughts. Surprisingly, even us oldsters find that we can continue to grow, especially as we learn to accept and even embrace some new realities in our lives.
